The Mission
“In the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God.” (Genesis 5:1.)
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we all could live just like that? Live life eternally and perfect in every way with one perfect father, one perfect brotherhood, one perfect sisterhood, and one perfect family?
We could, but for one detail. We fell from favor when we disobeyed our Father and Creator as explained in Genesis chapter 3. God requires sacrifice as payment for the consequences of our weakness. Without it we are condemned.
There is GOOD NEWS to “those among you who fear God, to you the word of this salvation has been sent. (Acts 13:26) “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” (Romans 8) All believers “should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel”. (Ephesians 3:6)
By definition, children of God are joint heirs and that makes us all one family. At Riverton we earnestly strive to live life in our homes, in our church and in our community as family. And we live today!

The Vision
Whether you are a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, a seeker looking for truth in life, or a traveling worshipper passing through the community, we welcome you with open arms!
Riverton Christian Church is located in Riverton, Illinois. A small transforming bedroom community, Riverton is home to nearly 4,000 people. We strive to be a warm and caring faith based community. Through Christ's sacrifice, we are made into a forever family. We invite you to be part of His family! We believe it is the calling of the church to be the hands of fulfillment of what is known as the "Great Commission" given by Jesus himself in Matthew 28.19-20. Christ tells all Christians to evangelize the lost, baptize those who come to Christ, and nurture the saved. We invite you to join us as we seek to fulfill His vision of faith! The Lord's church is further designed to be a place of refuge, of safety, and of truth. The church is a place of renewal and refreshment, for those who have found the peace of God through Christ Jesus and are on a positive spiritual journey. It is to be a place of encouragement and peace for the lonely, the spiritually and emotionally wounded, and the downtrodden. To all people the church is to be home.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. Matthew 28:19-20
