What We Believe

We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and that Jesus is the one and only Son of God.  Jesus lived on earth, was crucified, was resurrected, and walked again on the earth before rising into heaven.  Eternal life in heaven is only possible through a personal relationship with Jesus.  We believe that with this personal relationship, we will one day spend eternity with God.

about God…

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe.  He is reveled in three persons; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.  The three are co-equal and one God.

Genesis 1:1, 26-27, 3:22 ; Psalm 90:2 ; Matthew 28:19 ; 1 Peter 1:2 ; 2 Corinthians 13:14

about the Holy Spirit…

The Holy Spirit is the believer’s daily helper and is co-equal with the Father and Jesus.   He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer spiritual gifts when they accept Christ. As Christians, we seek to live under His influence daily.

about Jesus…

Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God and is equal to God the Father.  He offered himself by dying on the cross as the perfect sinless sacrifice in payment for our sins.  After lying dead for three days He arose alive and demonstrated His power over death and was seen by many.  He ascended to heaven and took His rightful place at the right hand of God preparing to return to earth to reign as King of kings and Lord of lords.

about the Bible...

The Bible is the Word of God written by humans who were supernaturally inspired by the Holy Spirit.  It is the final truth and error free authority for the Christian faith and Christian living.

2 Timothy 3:16 ; 2 Peter 1:20-21 ; 2 Timothy 1:13 ; Psalm 119:105,160, 12:6 : Proverbs 30:5

about Humanity…

Every person has worth to God. who created each one in His spiritual image.  With goodness at our core, we also were given freedom of choice.  Disobedience toward God results in ‘sin’ by definition.  From this we are separated from God which causes many of the problems we face daily.

Genesis 1:27 ; Psalm 8:3-6 ; Isaiah 53:6 ; Romans 3:23 ; Isaiah 59:1-2

about Salvation…

Salvation is the free gift to those willing to accept it.  Sin separates us from God as its penalty.  We cannot be reunited with Him by any personal act or good work of our own.  When we change from a self driven life, believe that Jesus is the Christ, and trust Him, we are saved.  Our belief, faith, and trust are evidenced by our belief in Jesus as the Son of God who died for our sins and rose from the dead, repenting of our sin, confessing that Jesus is Lord, and being immersed in baptism.

Romans 6:23 ; Ephesians 2:8-9 ; John 14:6, 1:12 ; Titus 3:5 ; Galatians 3:26 ; Romans 5:1, 6:4

about Baptism…

Baptism is a defining moment of faith in response to Christ.  We are called many times to show our obedience and unity with Jesus and His people. To follow Jesus we must follow Him through the waters of baptism.  Baptism is only confirmed by immersion.

about the Church…

The Church is the body of Christ on earth, empowered by the H0ly Spirit on the day of Pentecost.  It is to serve in unity by sharing God’s love through His Word and encouraging all believers in their quest to fulfill the commands of our Savior Jesus Christ.

Acts 2:1-4 ; Ephesians 4:1-16 ; Acts 2:42 ; Ephesians 1:22-23 ; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13

about eternity…

People were created to exist forever.  Every individual will exist either with God or separated from God.  Those separated from God will do so in Hell.  And those who are in eternal union with God will live with Him in Heaven.  Heaven and Hell are literal places of eternal existence.
